Mmmmm! So close to the way this wuffy makes it! And this sounds REALLY good too!

Wuff doesn't always use the celery, but do often put in a bit of minced garlic. Smoked ham hocks, yes! But often tossed right in with the split peas as they're heating.

Wuff pulls those out and lets them cool, then pulls off the good smoked meat and adds it back in, after pureeing the peas/carrots/etc. with an immersion blender till its all smooth and creamy.

Once it's all pureed and thick, Vrghr will sometimes add a diced up ham steak for extra meat. Another favorite is sliced up kielbasa sausage. Either way, it's a WONDERFUL taste treat!

Oh, and for a nice flavor boost, sub some low-salt chicken broth for part or all of the water. It's so subtle, you don't notice the chicken flavor, but it makes the peas taste extra rich.
