Ok.. and now the fun part, making the baked spagetti. This is the sauce recipe I ended up with after I modified it for my own tastes. 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 pounds hot Italian sausage links 1 pound mild italian sausage links 4 pounds 85% lean ground beef 1 14 ounce can crushed tomatoes 1 28 ounce can Tomato Sauce 2 Jalapenios, seeded and diced fine 3 medium red onions, chopped 3 tablespoons chili powder 1 tablespoon dried oregano 1 tablespoon dried parsley 1 tablespoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon fennel seed 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper sauce 1 shot whiskey (equal to 1/4 cup) Steps: 1. Use a fork to pierce the sausage links and place in boiling water for 12 minutes. Remove and slice. 2. In a large dutch oven, brown the hamburger in the olive oil. 3. stir everything together in the large dutch oven and allow to simmer for at least 1/2 hour or longer. Then this is the baked spagetti (or in my case, linguini) recipe. 1 stick butter 2 eggs 1 cup grated Jarlsburg cheese 2lb Linguini (or spagetti if you prefer it) 3 cups cottage cheese Steps: 1. Place 2lb of Linguini in boiling water for 14 minutes (or until firm, but done.), then drain. 2. Mix butter, eggs, and cheese in with Linguiny while still hot. 3. In a greased casserole dish, place layers as follows: Layer of Linguini, Layer of Cottage Cheese, Layer of Spagetti Sauce. Repeat until dish is full. My recipie makaes about 7 quarts worth of casserole. ![]() Baked covered in 350 degree oven for 40 minutes, then uncovered for another 20 minutes. Allow to cool.
